BOOK.
This project reinterprets Gertrude Stein’s Tender Buttons, specifically the poem “Book,” through an expanded publication that treats medium as meaning. Rather than attempting to resolve the text semantically, the work explores how typography, interaction, and material form can shape interpretation. Influenced by The Medium is the Massage and childhood poetry, the book incorporates interactive structures such as puzzles, prompts, and tactile interventions that invite participation and slow reading. The final piece is a 100-page, Swiss-bound publication paired with motion and sound, combining hand-bound bookmaking, original photography, typography, and restrained animation. By translating a literary text into a physical and time-based experience, the project positions the book as both object and performance.
