App Design

In this project, students designed a fully realized mobile app of their choosing, synthesizing skills developed throughout the semester in Adobe XD and Figma. Building on prior work in email and web design, students navigated the constraints of mobile specifications while addressing branding, usability, and accessibility. Each student developed a complete visual system, including logo design, typography, color palettes, iconography, and brand guidelines, before applying it across a minimum set of app screens.

Students identified target audiences and user needs, designed intuitive navigation systems, and created interactive prototypes to demonstrate core user flows. Emphasis was placed on color accessibility, legibility, and clear interface language to support effective task-based communication. The project culminated in high-fidelity mockups, promotional renders, and a scrollable presentation, with some students extending their work to include app store visuals. The assignment encouraged both creative freedom and systems thinking, asking students to integrate graphic design, interaction design, and user experience into a cohesive mobile product.
